This is the 'main building' at Cedar Beach. This snack bar/restroom/shower facility is located in the center of a huge parking lot. No matter the size of this lot, in the summer it always seems to be packed. Life guards are on duty from 8am-6pm. There is also a basketball court at one end of parking lot and a playground at the opposite end. This is the Cedar Beach pier. At close to 300 feet long, this dock provides visitors with an area to relax. With a high surf, the waves crash onto the jetty drowning out the ear-splitting sounds of everyday life. This is also a prime spot for many to go fish. Although I have fished here numerous times throughout my life, the only creature I had ever caught was a crab(and he got ensnared by my fishing line). This is also the entrance from the Long Island Sound into the Mount Sinai Harbor. In the warmer months, hundreds of boats docked in the harbor give an impressive view from the road.

Here is a snapshot of some of Cedar Beach's local wildlife. These swans are always in small numbers, yet they can always be seen at some point. This view from the pier is looking the opposite way the picture above is facing. This view shows the almost mile long shore line of Cedar Beach. On a clear day, like almost anywhere else on the north shore, Conneticuit looks like a hop, skip, and a jump away.
