Originally founded in 1972, as the Long Island Sound Taskforce, Save the Sound is a bi-state, non-profit membership organization dedicated to the restoration, protection, and appreciation of Long Island Sound. Those who choose to Volunteer for Save the Sound are agreeing to protect and restore the Long Island Sound for future generations through a comprehensive program of advocacy, education and research

Clean Sound, Inc. is an all volunteer, not-for-profit, tax exempt corporation, established in 1990 to remove fixed and floatable pollutants from Long Island Sound and all contributing watershed areas, to work to restore degraded habitats, and to inform others about the pollution problems facing the Long Island Sound. Clean Sound, Inc. provides the opportunity for people to Volunteer in a hands-on solution to the pollution problems facing Long Island Sound and to make a positive impact on the environment.
